In 1991, when we were starting a family, we bought a house on the northeast side of Indianapolis in a nice neighborhood in the woods. Nearby was a large reservoir, Geist Lake, which was rapidly being built out with some of the nicest houses in the state. Most of the waterfront homes are fairly lavish, 6,000 to 10,000 square feet and up, and at one time the area was listed among the top 50 neighborhoods in the United States.
